Testing and commissioning of the leak detection and trace heating systems begin with a visual inspection of all installed components, including the Master Panel, sensing cables, slave panels, trace heating cables, RayClic connection kits, junction boxes, controllers, sensors, and associated labelling. All elements are verified for compliance with manufacturer instructions and relevant circuit layout drawings.
For the leak detection system, all slave panels are identified on the Master Panel and confirmed to be in “Normal” status. System settings and individual slave panel parameters are reviewed and recorded. Alarm configurations are checked, and the System Map is uploaded in accordance with the Master Panel Operation Manual. For the trace heating system, installation record sheets are completed to confirm compliance with manufacturer requirements. Controllers and sensors are inspected to ensure correct installation and operation. Electrical checks verify that each controller is protected by the appropriate breaker type and RCD protection. Controller parameters are then configured as required.
Functional testing is carried out across both systems. Leak detection performance is validated by simulating leaks at key points along each circuit. The corresponding meterage is obtained from the Event History and entered into the System Map, which is then updated to reflect all test locations. A final acceptance test confirms correct detection and graphical representation of a simulated leak. Trace heating systems are tested by running a program on each controller to confirm fault-free operation. Thermal imaging is used to verify that heating cables, particularly at T-connectors, are energised and functioning correctly. Completion of these activities confirms that both systems are installed, configured, and operating in accordance with project and manufacturer requirements.
